What Our Customers Say...
Description
Colour Plates, Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
The first Bob Merrill edition, second state, which is commonly referred to by bibliographers as the second edition of this work.
With all issue points including: All sixteen colour plates are present and the cover is a dark green cloth stamped in black and orange. The title to the front board and spine has the title shortened to 'The Wizard of Oz'. The Crow's eye is still orange to the front board. There are three entries to the verso of the title page. The colour sequence of the text illustrations has been changed from the first state as called for. This particular copy is interesting as there is no imprint to the verso of title page, this has been mentioned by Greene, Hanff, Martin, Haff and Green but in their copy the three-entry notice is printed in blue. This copy sees the three-entry notice in black with no publisher's imprint. (Greene, Hanff, Martin, Haff and Greene pp.27-29.)
Collated, lacking a front endpaper.
