Bibliographer and typographer Proctor's interest in the sagas was initiated by his friend William Morris, whose poem 'The Lovers of Gudrun' was inspired by the same source material.
The saga tells of the people in an area of Iceland from the late ninth to early eleventh century, placing a particular focus on a love triangle that results in an enmity between two friends.
