Complete in two volumes. A limited edition work, one of three hundred and fifty 'Author's Editions', this copy is numbered eighty-five. Signed by the author to the edition page. A beautiful work on miniature paintings and their painters, looking into the miniature paintings from Britain and the world. Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and seventy-seven plates. Collated, complete. Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, and fifty-four plates. Collated, complete. Written by Joshua James Foster, who also wrote 'British Miniature Painters and Their Works', and 'The Stuarts in XVI XVII & XVIII Century Art'.
Condition
In the original quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light marks to the boards and spines. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Small crack to the head of the front joint of Volume II. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with some spots.
