Three volumes. Volumes one, four, and five only. First edition. With a letter enclosed to volume four, written on the photographer's own letterhead, inscribed and signed by James Watts. Volume one contains two hundred and forty-two illustrations, volume two contains two hundred and forty-two illustrations, and volume three contains two hundred and twelve illustrations. A charming collection of writings on ventures and journeys across England and Wales to find old homes and explore their ruins. With commentary on the legends of the borderlands and accounts of the author's travels to notable homes. Written by Fletcher Moss, a British Alderman who donated a park to the city of Manchester, now named Fletcher Moss Garden. Volume four includes photographs by James Watts, a British photographer and artist.
Condition
In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Spotting and age toning to the endpapers.
