Being the Memoirs of Dr John Stokoe, naval surgeon. Translated from the French of Paul Fremeaux by Edith S. Stokoe.
Illustrated with five monochrome plates and facsimiles of letters. Collated, complete.
Contents include 'At the Outset of the Captivity' and 'The End of the Drama'.
With beautiful decorative gilt to the cloth.
From the library of G. C. Kitching, who was the first person to publish an extended series of fully referenced papers on the history of St Helena. His book plate is attached to the front pastedown.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. There is some bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The spine is slightly faded. The front hinge is starting but firm. Prior owner's book plate to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot.
