First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding
A first edition of this light story by Barry Pain. A regular contributor to the weekly satiric magazine Punch, Barry Pain was an Enligh journalist, poet, and humourist. This story is accompanied by cartoons by popular Victorian illustrator Tom Browne. Prior owner's calligraphic ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. The inscription reads, 'To Minnie, with Love from A. 5th May 1903'. With a blind stamp from W. H. Smith to the front endpaper.
Condition
In the publisher's original red pictorial cloth binding. Externally, smart. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with some marginal wear to the extremities. The cloth is a little discoloured. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout.
