A collection of short stories, including: Romulus and Numa, The Elder Tarquin, Rome and the Gauls, Manlius of the Twisted Chain, and The Passes of Caudium. Written by the Reverend Alfred John Church, an English classical scholar. Illustrated by Bartolomeo Pinelli, an Italian illustrator and engraver. Previously held in the library of Christopher Foyle, a British philanthropist and chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. Bound by Sotheran's Sackville, London.
Condition
Bound in full calf. Externally, very smart with light rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. Small splits in the calf to the head of the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the endpapers. School prize bookplate to the front pastedown. Bound by Sotheran's Sackville, London.
