Turner is known for his expressive colour and imaginative landscapes in his watercolour paintings. He was encouraged in his art by John Ruskin, and became increasingly eccentric and reclusive during his life, being a controversial figure of society.
He was active during the peak of the Romantic era, with his paintings providing an atmospheric backdrop.

Condition
In a full tree calf binding by Bickers & Son. Externally, smart. Small cracks to the head of the joints. A couple of light marks to the boards. Spine is a little faded. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just a few odd spots to the first and last few pages only.
