What Our Customers Say...

Description

Colour Plates, Decorative Binding, First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Using words and painting, Robert Talbot Kelly shares his impressions and experiences of Egypt. With seventy five colour plates, collated and complete. Having moved to Egypt in 1883, Kelly eventually became fluent in Arabic, and his empathy and respect for the local people and culture is evident in his paintings and writing. Includes chapters on Cairo, the Nile, the desert, as well as a discussion of the nation's mosques and public buildings, and the religion and character of its people. Prior owner's bookplate to the front paste down, 'William Garrett'.

Condition

In the publisher's decorative blue cloth binding. Externally, rather smart. Lightly rubbed to the joints and the spine, with some minor wear to the extremities. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine. Front and rear hinges starting, but firm. With some light offsetting to the endpapers. Internally, the binding is a little tender, and as a result pages 121 to 130 are disbound, but present. Pages are bright and clean throughout.
