A new edition of this set comprising Thomas Hardy's works, part of the MacMillan series named 'The Wessex Novels' published between 1902 and 1903. With nineteen titles by the popular author.
Thomas hardy was a British novelist and poet, a Victorian realist influenced by the Romantic poetry of William Wordsworth. Although he regarded himself as a poet primarily, he gained fame thanks to his novels, presented in this series. Titles such as Far from the Madding Crowd, Jess the Obscure and The Mayor of Casterbridge have always received much praise. In this series, his poems are also included in volume eighteen and nineteen, titled Wessex Poems and Poems of the Past and Present.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding with titles in gilt to spine. Externally smart with minor shelfwear and slight bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Spine has slightly darkened to all volumes except volume two 'Far from the Madding Crowd,' gilt still visible. Signed by a previous owner, undated, to front free endpaper to most volumes except volumes two and four ' A Pair of Blue Eyes'. Internally, firmly bound. Minor faint spotting primarily to endpapers, otherwise pages are generally bright and clean throughout. The occasional page left unopened.
