Landor vividly describes his experiences travelling overland across Persia, writing in his typical witty prose above his adventures en route, include meeting wrestlers and government officials.
Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, and forty-seven plates.
Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece, one folding map, and seventy-two plates.
Collated, complete.
Written and illustrated by the explorer and anthropologist Arnold Henry Savage Landor. Landor also published the travel works 'China and the Allies', 'Across Wildest Africa' and 'The Gems of the East'.
Condition
In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spines are lightly faded. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. A few minor marks to the boards and spines. Front hinges are starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with a few scattered spots. Frontispiece of Volume I is detaching.
