Early Edition

Complete in Two Volumes. With a Methuen publisher's catalogue for November 1902 to the rear of Volume Two. Sir Sidney Colvin, 1845-1927, was an English art and literary scholar and museum administrator. "Colvin's most celebrated friendship, shared by his future wife, was with Robert Louis Stevenson... Colvin recognized Stevenson's genius and helped and encouraged him by introducing him to editors and publishers and tirelessly promoting his interests" -ODNB.

Condition

In cloth bindings. Externally, a little bumped, with loss to the top of the spines. The hinges are slightly strained. Internally, firmly bound, with the occasional spot. There is an ink inscription to the front free-endpaper and to the half title.
