Frederick Dellenbaugh was an explorer, being a member of the expedition that discovered the Escalante River and the Henry Mountains. He also joined expeditions to Alaska, and to the Colorado River, travelling widely across the United States and Europe.
His other publications include 'The Romance of the Colorado River', 'Breaking the Wilderness', and 'In the Amazon Jungle'.
With a frontispiece and over three-hundred and fifty vignette illustrations throughout, most credited as being from either the U.S. Bureau of Ethnology, or the Peabody Museum.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to spine head and tail, and minor discolouration to back strip. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with light handling marks to first and last few leaves.
