This four volume ornithological work was written by W. Swaysland and provides an in depth study on a variety of species of birds, discussing their appearance, habits, habitats, eggs and much more. The illustrations each have a scale to explain how to the image compared to the rear bird.

Condition
In the publisher's original cloths. Externally generally smart with rubbing and bumping to the extremities, slight marks to the boards and the odd closed tear to the cloth to the head and tail of the spine and to the head of the front joint to 'Second Series'. Bookplate belonging to a 'Neville and Maud Gwynn', a bookseller's label to the rear and offsetting and spotting to the endpapers and front hinges starting. Internally generally firmly bound with strain in places. Pages lightly age toned and generally clean with the odd spot. Tidemarks to the front pages to 'Series Two'.
