What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The one-hundred and sixth thousand of Carroll's novel, termed 'The People's Edition' by the publisher.

First published on 1865, Carroll's tale follows Alice as she falls down a rabbit hole and encounters various anthropomorphic creatures. The work remains one of the most popular and renowned works of both Victorian and children's fiction, having seen countless interpretations since.

Illustrated with a frontispiece - retaining the original tissue guard - and further vignette illustrations by John Tenniel. Upon the initial publication of the work, Tenniel was far more well-known than Carroll, owing to his successful career as an illustrator and cartoonist, including many pieces for the satirical periodical 'Punch'.

With an advertisement leaf to the rear.

Condition

In the publisher's original pictorial cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally excellent. Front hinge strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
