Two works uniformly bound in half calf bindings, with gilt detailing to the spines, and marbled end papers and edges.
Mary Ann Evans (1819-1880), best known by her pen name George Eliot, was one of the leading writers of the Victorian era. Among her most famous works were the novels Middlemarch and The Mill on the Floss.
This collection of two works comprises:
Felix Holt, the Radical, first published in 1866, a social novel concerning political disputes in a small English town.
Impressions of Theophrastus Such, first published in 1879, a series of literary essays in which an imaginary scholar creates character studies. In the same volume as this work are seven essays, as well as Leaves from a Note-Book.
Condition
In uniform half calf bindings. Externally, generally smart, though rubbed to the joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
