    First Edition, Illustrated, Limited Edition

    A complete two volume set of this work. 

    Limited edition copies, limited to 750 copies of which these are numbered 423. 

    Lionel Cust was Director of the National Portrait Gallery and Surveyor of the King's Pictures and Works of Art.

    This volume is an illustrated catalogue of the National Portrait Gallery. The Gallery was founded in 1856 and this catalogue follows a historical and chronological arrangement of the portraits as they were actually exhibited in the galleries at the time. 

    Extensively illustrated with the portraits from the gallery throughout both volumes with over one thousand illustrations. 
    Collated, complete.

    Condition

    In full cloth binding. Externally, excellent with some light bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
