Very Scarce
Two volumes of a 19th century archive of more than 1300 copy letters written by a senior London and North Western Railway Official, John Partington. The correspondence covers the year 1873-1892 in the first volume and 1892-1901 in the second.
With alphabetised organisers to the front of each volume and 997 pages of letters to volume one and 334 of 1000 pages filled out the second volume. Most of the letters are hand written with some typed letters. Some of the letters correspond to pay enquiries and money, complaints and other issues around the railway.
A unique and interesting insight into the history of the London and North Western Railway.
Condition
The front and rear hinges are weak to the first volume. Externally, poor. The spines and boards are very worn. The second volume is missing the front board and from a-m is loose. The rear hinge is weak and the spine is very worn. Internally, pages are generally firmly bound and generally bright and clean.
