A complete collection of the popular 'Waverley' novels by the noted Scottish author Sir Walter Scott.
The 'Waverley' novels by Sir Walter Scott were some of the most popular and widely read novels of the time when they were published, increasing Scott's reputation to become one of the most recognisable literary names of the Georgian era. 'Waverley', the first novel in the series, was Scott's first adventure into historical literature, and has been widely acknowledged as one of the first pieces of historical fiction. The novels are set over a period of a eight hundred years, from 1097 with 'Count Robert of Paris' to the 19th century with 'St. Ronan's Well'.
Sir Walter Scott is best known today for his novels and poetry, including 'Ivanhoe' and 'The Lady of the Lake'. He wrote a lot about his birthplace of Scotland, though with his experiments in historical fiction, he expanded to writing about various places in England and Europe.
