    A smart copy of the first edition of 'Colonial-born Afrcander' Adrian Hofmeyr's account of his time in captivity between 1899 and 1900 during the Second Boer War, or The Transvaal War.

    Hofmeyr discusses the daily routine of the prison, and an escape attempt.

    Illustrated with a frontispiece - retaining the original tissue guard - and one further plate. Collated, complete.

    With the inscription of G. L. Laurie, dated Dec. 8 1900, to the half title.

    With a thirty two page publisher's catalogue to the rear.

    Condition

    In the publisher's original cloth binding. Fading to back strip, and front board. Bumping to back strip head. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription to half title. Pages clean and bright.
