A compelling and rich history of the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital from 1700 to 1900, including various chapters on finance, governance, medical staff, and numerous reports and statistics. 

Including an illustrated frontispiece, thirteen further illustrations, and three folding plates, one of which depicts a ground plan of the new hospital. Collated and complete. 

Written by Sir Peter Eade, a former fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a former consulting physician to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. 

A presentation copy from the author, given to noted British physician and senior medical officer in the Ministry of Health, Dr Sydney Arthur Monckton Copeman (1862-1947). This copy includes a personal letter from Sir Peter Eade to Dr S. Monckton Copeman, dated October 31, 1900, and adhered to the verso of the front free-endpaper. Also including the author's signature to the half title page. 

A scarce to find work, especially with such a fascinating association.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some light bumping to the extremities and head and tail of the spine. Slight fading to the spine. Including a letter from the author adhered to the verso of the front free-endpaper, and the author's ink signature to the half title page. Internally, front hinge is lightly strained. Remaining binding is firm. Pages are generally bright and clean.
