Grace Aguilar wrote Home Influence and its sequel, the present volume, when she was about nineteen years old. This book was published posthumously by her mother.

Sarah Aguilar, her mother, writes in the preface that the author's aim was "the education of the Heart. It was her desire to point out to the youthful exemplification of character, to point out to the youthful of her own sex the paths of rectitude and virtue."

Condition
In the original publisher's colourful illustrated cloth. Externally excellent with only minor shelf wear and some bumping to the head and tail of the spine. The cloth to the spine has slightly darkened. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are clean throughout with only minor browning to the gutters, as usual due to the type of paper used. Illustrated with a frontispiece.
