With a frontispiece from Bellini, and four further plates of William Blake illustrations. Collated, complete.

A scarce first edition prose and verse anthology from English writer and Viscountess, Pamela Tennant. Privately printed at the Chiswick Press.

Featuring extracts from as diverse a range of voices as Goethe, Shakespeare, Walt Whitman and W. B. Yeats, Tennant themed these works around the Bible, Apocrypha, and Imitation of Christ. They are arranged to serve as morning and evening readings every day for the space of four weeks.

A friend of both Henry James and Oscar Wilde, she also published her own poems, prose, and children's literature.

Condition

In the publisher's original quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Bumping to the extremities, and some marks to the boards. Discolouration to tail of spine. Discolouration to endpapers. Binding is strained in places, but generally firm. Pages are bright and clean. Tissue guards to plates all present.
