The first edition of this work. Privately printed in the UK and Paris in 1900 to five hundred copies for subscribers only. A collection of short stories detailing Hector France's experiences in the Algerian desert.

A graphic and exciting account of experiences that blend together exoticism and barbarism to make a thrilling and exquisite volume. 

Profusely illustrated throughout with twenty two etchings, and a coloured frontispiece.

Condition

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with pictorial paper covered boards. Externally, excellent with only minor shelfwear and slight bumping to head and tail of spine and extremities. Internally, hinges are slightly loose to front board, otherwise binding is firm. Pages are bright and clean. Collating complete with coloured frontispiece and twenty one etchings throughout.
