First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

The first edition of this work. 

An album of pictures and photographs illustrative of the main events during the Second Boer War in South Africa from the time of the landing of Lord Roberts until the end of the campaign. Featuring a chronological history. 

Collated, complete with one-hundred and thirty-nine pages of illustrations including map of South Africa and descriptive text.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally with shelf wear, bumped to head and tail of spine and extremities, damp marks to boards. Evidence of the attempted removal of a bookplate to front pastedown. Some loss to front free endpaper and rear free endpaper which has a vertical tear, both halves present. Internally, binding generally firm. Cockling to upper margin affecting text block through due to damp damage. Pages generally very clean throughout with occasional handling mark.
