A beautiful edition of this historical account of the years between Queen Victoria's accession and her Diamond Jubilee, and the general election of 1880.

An additional appendix updates the work to the year 1886.

Written by Justin McCarthy, an Irish historian, politician and novelist who served as an M.P. between 1879 and 1900.

In a splendid tree calf prize binding from Relfe Brothers, with the inscription of the King's School, Bruton, dated 1907, to a front blank.

Condition

In signed tree calf school prize bindings from Relfe Brothers. Externally, exceptionally lovely. Prize inscription to a front blank of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally bright, with instances of light spotting, most concentrated to first and last few leaves of each volume.
