This work is a useful guide to the collecting, use, and preservation of books, looking in detail at book buying, the art of bookbinding, the history of libraries, rare books, and more. Written by Ainsworth Rand Spofford. Spofford was an American journalist, and also worked as the Librarian of Congress for thirty years, after having worked as a journalist and editor at the Cincinnati Commercial. With four pages of publisher's adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's quarter vellum binding with paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Light marks and discolouration to the spine. Minor marks to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just a couple of spots to the first and last few pages.
