Dated using Jisc, from copies of the work held at the University of Oxford Libraries.
Comprised of the first edition of volume II and III and the third edition of volume I.
A 'Country Life' work delving into the many beautiful gardens of Britain, most within the country homes in England. A wonderful study into the charming gardens of the British countryside. Looking at Castle Ashby, Hampton Court, Amesbury Abbey, Longleat, Hartwell House and many more.
Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece, and many full paged and in-text illustrations throughout.
Volume II edited by John Leyland with illustrations from photographs by Charles Latham.
Volume III edited by H. Avray Tipping with illustrations from photographs by Charles Latham.
With the bookplate of the Constitutional Club Library to the front paste down.
Condition
Bound in quarter crushed morocco with cloth boards. Volume I and II share a similar binding, with a slightly different shade of cloth. Volume III has navy cloth with bright gilt decoration. Externally, very smart, with bumping to the extremities and light marking to the cloth. Bookplate to the front paste down. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with the odd handling mark.
