A first-hand account of the native races of Uganda, a fascinating study that illuminates their culture, as well as describing the exciting sporting adventures undertaken by the author.

Written by William John Ansorge, a physician who worked in Uganda. Ansorge was also an explorer of fauna of Africa, and a valuable collector.

The colour plates show Ansorge's interest in the fauna and native birds of Uganda.

Condition

Rebound in a full cloth binding, with two panels of the original publisher's cloth restored to the front board. Externally, smart. A few marks to the original publisher's cloth and spine label. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with some spots. Prior owner's pencil scribble to the reverse of the plates. Plates are reinforced to the gutters. Collated, bound without plates facing pages 32, 62, 80, 96, 130, 190, and 208. Library stamp to the reverse of the final leaf of text.
