Early Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

Second edition (publisher's adverts dated June 1899). Walter Besant (14 August 1836 – 9 June 1901), was a novelist and historian who lived largely in London. Illustrated throughout with eight plates by Fred Pegram. With ex-libris bookplate of Walter Besant to front pastedown.

Condition

In a decorative orange cloth binding. Externally sound, though with some marks and wear to the extremities. Discolouration to the spine. Hinges are slightly strained, but firm. Internally, binding tender. Pages are bright and generally clean, though with the occasional scattered spots.
