Work of fiction set in Oxford by William Collins, Welsh-first class cricketer and author, regular contributor to Blackwood's Magazine as well as author of two tales set in Oxford. A scarce first edition of this work.

Collins's presentation copy to recto front blank leaf inscribed "Alan Synge, with the author's love" dated 1899. With half title.

With armorial bookplate H. R. de L. Lacy to front pastedown.

Condition

Rebound in full calf by Bickers with intricate gilt tooling to spine, marbled edges and endpapers. Externally very smart with minor shelf wear only, lightly rubbed to spine and boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean.
