Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth.
Strikingly illustrated with twenty plates and numerous page adornments by British painter and designer, John Byam Liston Shaw. Known for his varied use of techniques and media, Shaw was greatly influenced by the Pre-Raphaelites, taking many of his subjects from different works of poetry.
Collated, complete.
Comprised of four tales from Boccaccio's Decameron, including 'Griselda', 'Saladin and Torello', 'Sir Federigo's Hawk' and 'Isabella'.
Compiled and with an introduction by historian, folklorist and translator, Joseph Jacobs.
With the pictorial bookplate of Isabel H. Barr.
Condition
Bound in the publisher's original pictorial cloth. Externally, very smart, with light bumping to the extremities and spine. Cloth is a little rubbed to the extremities, with the odd mark. Front hinge is a touch strained, but holding firm. Bookplate to the front paste down. Light offsetting to front endpaper, with the odd spot. Internally, firmly bound with bright, clean pages.
