The first edition of this work.

One of the many books based on wildlife in Britain by brothers Richard and Cherry Kearton, two of the world's earliest wildlife photographers. 

This volume focuses on the ornithological wildlife of Britain, in particular on the rarer birds found, and their breeding habits.

Illustrated with a frontispiece, and photographs throughout, by the brothers. Collated, complete.

Twenty-two pages of adverts to the rear.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Spine and extremities are faded. A few light marks to the cloth. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots, mostly to the endpapers and frontispiece.
