The 41st Welch Regiment of Foot was an infantry regiment, joined by Arthur Wellesley in 1788 as a young lieutenant. The regiment served in the West indies during the French Revolutionary Wars, the War of 1812, the Battle of Frenchtown, the Battle of Lake Erie and the Battle of the Thames. They were then posted to India in 1822 and Afghanistan in 1842 for the First Anglo-Afghan War, before merging the the 69th Regiment of Foot to form the Welch Regiment.
This is a limited edition, number 189 of 250 copies printed.
Illustrated with a profuse number of full plate illustrations and photographs, including six in colour with the frontispiece.
Condition
In a full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, with bumping to extremities and the head and tail of the spine in particular and a large chip running down both joints. Internally hinges are strained but firm, pages are bright and clean with a number of annotations in pencil to the margin.
