First edition. Illustrated with a frontispiece and thirty-six plates. Collated complete. A diary of farming throughout the year providing a thorough explanation of tending to the land and animals across the year, with a chapter for each month. With insight into planting, harvesting and the breeding of farm animals. Written by Sir Henry Rider Haggard, an English writer of adventure fiction romances set in exotic locations and a pioneer of the lost world literary genre. Illustrated by George Leon Little, a British artist known for his rural landscapes.

Condition

In the original full blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with scattered spotting throughout. Contemporary ink inscriptions to the front endpaper and title page dated 1st January 1900. Kenley Cottage embossed stamp to the front endpaper.
