Bound without the general title pages, however the title page for each issue is included.

In three volumes, with a total of thirty-four issues across the three volumes, Volumes I and II both containing eleven issues, and Volume II containing twelve issues.

A charming late Victorian periodical, comprising of satirical illustrations taking an insightful study of the society of the day.

Illustrated profusely throughout with pen and ink drawings.

The entertaining scenes depicted in these volumes include 'A Widow and Her Friends', 'The American Girl Abroad', 'When Our Eccentric Relative Becomes an Object of Interest', 'These Young Girls Who Marry Oldish Millionaires', 'The Power of Gold', and entertaining puzzles such as 'Find the Monied Nobleman', 'Find the Two Lovers', and more.

'Pictorial Comedy' was a brilliant periodical that explored late Victorian society in both the upper and lower classes. The pen and ink drawings are striking in their humour and style, with a beautiful depiction of fashion. 

The text in this periodical include short stories and poems.

Illustrated by many eminent artists, including Charles Dana Gibson, an American illustrator known for creating the Gibson Girl. His beautiful Gibson Girl is examples many times in 'Pictorial Comedy'.

Condition

In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart. Spines are faded. Light bumping to the extremities resulting in a little loss of leather. Crack to the tail of the front joint of Volume I, smaller crack to the tail of the rear joint. Minor marks to the boards. Light rubbing to the joints and spines, heavier to Volume III with some loss to the head, and a little lifting to the head of the front joint. Front hinge of Volume I is strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots.
