A very scarce work, this account of the life and work of British painter Elizabeth Thompson, better known as Lady Butler. She specialised in scenes from British military campaigns, including the Crimean and Napoleonic wars.
Illustrated with nine full plate illustrations, including an engraved frontispiece and two mounted plates, and numerous further vignette illustrations.
