Second edition, revised and enlarged. Illustrated with a frontispiece, eight plates, and many in-text images. Collated complete. A detailed historical account of Tonbridge School in Kent, England. Founded in 1553 by Sir Andrew Judde as a boarding and day school for boys between the ages of thirteen and eighteen, the school remains one of the very few ancient public schools not to have become co-educational, with no plans to do so. Written by Septimus Rivington, an English publisher and author who, along with his brother Francis Hansard Rivington, continued running the publishing house of Rivingtons, following their father and grandfathers.

Condition

In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, smart with light bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine. Hinges starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light age toning to the extremities.
