What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Illustrated, Publishers' Original Binding

One of Andrew Lang's Fairy Books, a series of twenty five collections of true and fictional children's stories, published between 1889 and 1912. The most popular are the twelve 'coloured' fairy books, illustrated by Henry Justice Ford.

The present volume is a first edition, first impression of Andrew Lang's retelling of the popular Arabian Nights collection of folk tales from the Middle East.

Published by Scottish poet, novelist, and critic Andrew Lang, who edited and wrote prefaces for the entire run, and his wife Leonora Blanche Alleyne, who assumed editorial control in the 1890s.

The Arabian Nights Entertainments features thirty-four stories from Arabian Nights adapted for children. Notably, it contains the popular story of 'Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp.'

Richly illustrated with charming designs by H. J. Ford.

Condition

In the original publisher's full cloth binding. Externally smart with some shelf wear, lightly bumped to head and tail of spine, lightly faded and soiled to spine and boards. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting scattered to the occasional leaf. Illustrated by H. J. Ford.
