What Our Customers Say...
Illustrated, Very Scarce
Written by Augustin Prichard, a nineteenth century physician and the son of James Cowles Prichard, a physician and ethnologist known for the work 'Researches into the Physical History of Mankind', which broached the subject of evolution. Augustin's papers, along with those of his father, are held at the Bristol Archives.
Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of the author's father James Cowles Prichard, as well as an engraving of Bristol Cathedral from a water-colour by the author's father.
From the library of Audrey Pleydell-Bouverie, an English socialite and the illegitimate granddaughter of King Edward VII. She was featured by Cecil Beaton in 'The Book of Beauty'. Amongst her circle were Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, Coco Chanel, Salvador Dali, Winston and Clementine Churchill and Nancy Mitford.
A very scarce medical work, published in Bristol, the hometown of both the author and his father.
In the original full cloth binding. Externally very smart with just slight bumping to the tail of the spine and extremities. Ownership sticker to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, with a slight strain to the front hinge at the title page, which remains firm. Pages are bright and clean.
