The first edition of this work. Volume I is the first impression, Volume II is the second impression.

Complete in two volumes.

Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, four colour plates, twenty-six monochrome plates, and eighty-nine in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

Volume II illustrated with a colour frontispiece, one folding map, three colour plates, twenty-four monochrome plates, and one-hundred and eight in-text illustrations. Collated, complete.

Landor's extensive witty travel work describing his time spent in Tibet. He travelled to Tibet in 1896 on a scientific expedition.

During Landor's travels he was captured and tortured, a horrific experience that is recounted in this work. 

Written by Arnold Henry Savage Landor. He also published 'Tibet and Nepal' about his travels.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spines and to the extremities. Light marks to the boards and spines, marks heavier to the rear board of Volume I. Front hinges are starting but firm. Bookplate to the front pastedown of Volume II. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with a few odd spots.
