This work explores the author's travels to the Aleutian Islands, Behring's Sea, Eastern Siberia, Japan, Korea, China, Formosa, Hong Kong, and the Philippine Islands.
John D. Ford (1840-1918) was a naval officer during the American Civil War and the Spanish-American War, and fleet engineers of the Pacific Station in the United States Navy.
Richly illustrated throughout with vignette photographs and three maps, including a frontispiece of the author.
This work is uncommon, with a charming pictorial cover.
Condition
In the publisher's original pictorial full cloth binding. Externally very smart, some slight bumping to extremities and the head and tail of the spine, with a small chip to the tail. Internally generally firmly bound, front hinge is strained but firm. Pages are bright and clean, bar the occasional spot.
