First Edition, Illustrated

The first edition of this biography of Admiral Adam Duncan, 1st Viscount Duncan, a British admiral who defeated the Dutch fleet in the Battle of Camperdown on the 11th October 1797.

Illustrated with three photogravure portraits collected by tissue guards, and with a fourth illustrated plate depicting 'a plan of the action off Camperdown'. Collated, complete.

This is the work of Admiral Duncan's grandson, Robert Haldane-Duncan, the third Earl of Camperdown.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to spine head and tail, with a vertical split in the cloth of back strip head. Front joint starting, with board holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd mark or spot.
