From the library of Baron Patrick Devlin, a British judge and legal philosopher, the second youngest English High Court judge in the twentieth century. He was also known for his debates with H. L. A. Hart, and for heading the Devlin Commission. He married Madeline Hilda Oppenheimer, the daughter of the diamond merchant SIr Bernard Oppenheimer.

In the original publisher's quarter cloth binding with paper to the boards. Externally, smart. The occasional light marks to the boards and spines. Tidemark to the front board of 'The Duke's Children'. A couple of heavier marks to the front board of 'The Way We Live Now' and 'Orley Farm'. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
