First edition, in original publisher's cloth binding of Henry Scherren's entomological study using microscope technology.
Contents include a chapter on the pocket lens, the dissecting microscope, and simple appliances, as well as chapters on a variety of insects and crustaceans, such as spiders, crabs, prawns, and earwigs.
Henry Scherren wrote many books on natural history for adults and children. He was also a contributor to the Encyclopaedia Britannica and a fellow of the Zoological Society of London.
Includes 90 illustrations both on monochrome plates and throughout the text. Collated, complete.
No dust wrapper present.
Includes adverts to the pastedowns and the first free endpapers.
Condition
In original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, very smart. There is very minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. The spine is slightly worn. The front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
