George Smith's detailed study of the historical geography of the Holy Land, a wonderfully insightful work relating the history of Israel and the early church.

Smith was a pioneering Assyriologist, translating one of the oldest known written works of literature 'Epic of Gilgamesh'.

Condition

In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Bumping to the spine and extremities, a little loss and lifting to the head of the spine. Light marks to the boards and spine. Hinges are starting but firm. Rear hinge is repaired with tape. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean with some odd spots. Folding maps are a little torn and discoloured. The occasional ink note to the margins.
