Written by Egerton Ryerson Young (1840-1909), a Canadian author, missionary and teacher who wrote prolifically on his travels and work as a missionary, expanding regional knowledge and understanding of Methodist missions. This work was first published in 1893, and tells of the author's time around Lake Winnipeg in Canada, and his encounters and experiences with the locals there.
Profusely illustrated with vignette and full plate illustrations and photographs, as well as an illustrated title page.
With pictorial front cover demonstrating the campfires and wigwams, and with the spine depicting a Native American.
Condition
In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally generally smart, bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with gilt lettering a touch faded. Ownership inscription to the front pastedown. Internally generally firmly bound, hinges are strained but remain firm, pages are bright and clean.
