The second of Roosevelt's series of four books on hunting and ranching, the work follows his experiences working on a ranch in the west of the country. Roosevelt owned a ranch on the Little Missouri in Dakota Territory, and details the struggles and charms of ranching and hunting in the area. The work covers a number of his adventures in the area, including cowboys, hunting bear and his time spent as deputy sheriff.

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally very smart with slight shelf wear to the extremities and marks to the board. Signature of Pansy Ireland to front pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean with marginal age toning.
