What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Folding Maps, Rebound, Scarce
A scarce single article from The Royal Geographical Society, rebound in stiffened paper wraps, and illustrated with a large colour folding map.
Within his article, Astronomer Royal of Scotland Ralph Copeland discusses the manner in which the information gathered by Norwegian explorer Dr. Fridtjof Nansen 'from his great journey across the arctic ocean' altered perception of the geography and landscape of the Russian archipelago 'Kaiser Franz Joseph Land', a largely uninhabited group of 191 ice covered islands.
Illustrated with a large colour folding map of Kaiser Franz Joseph Land, 'reconstructed from the original survey of Julius Payer'.
The Royal Geographical Society was founded in 1830 for the advancement of geographical sciences, with publications from the society still in print to this day in the form of a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal.
