An immensely detailed history of London, delving into the history of the city and how it become the city as it was at the end of the Victorian era.
The first two volumes were written by Walter Thornbury.
The last four volumes were written by Edward Walford.
Each volume is illustrated with a frontispiece, and many full-paged and in-text engravings.
Volumes I and II looks at the city, ancient and modern.
Volumes III and IV looks at Westminster and the western suburbs.
Volume V looks at the western and northern suburbs.
Volume VI looks at the southern suburbs.
Condition
In the original half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, with rubbing to the boards and spines, with some loss of leather to the joints. Crack to the tail of the spine of of Volume II, with a small amount of loss. Light marks to the boards. Minor fading to the spines. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and clean.
